Perseid Meteor Shower Viewing Event

View the amazing Perseid Meteor Shower from the dark skies at Cumming Nature Center! The Perseids are the only major summer meteor shower that we can see from Western New York. Led by Jim Bader, the Strasenburgh Planetarium’s Director, and CNC naturalists Andy and Lann, visitors will learn basic astronomy, look through telescopes, and enjoy a spectacular show hosted by outer space.
Visitors will check in at the Nature Center before walking a lantern-lit 0.25 mile trail out to a dark viewing area with telescopes and plenty of space for blankets. Visitors are encouraged to bring a flashlight (we’ll have red cellophane available), a blanket to lay on, warm clothes and bug spray. This program is for all ages.
