Celebrate National Trails Day at the grand opening of a new, environmentally sustainable shared-use trail system at Hickory Ridge Preserve (formerly West Hill Preserve)!
This new 3.5-mile trail system is the first phase of a planned 13-mile shared-use trail offering enhanced access to nature while reducing negative environmental impacts, such as erosion. This new design replaces a steep and degraded hiking-only trail system with one accessible to beginner and intermediate hikers, mountain bikers, adaptive mountain bikers and jogger strollers, while reducing pollution in nearby aquatic habitats.
A walking tour led by the trail designer will discuss trail etiquette and the art and science behind trail construction. Visitors are welcome to hike or bike on their own after the guided walk.
This event is hosted by the Finger Lakes Trail Conference, Genesee Regional Off-road Cyclists, the Town of Naples, and The Nature Conservancy
